Mr. Philpott recognizes that every student's needs are different. While one student may be preparing for an entrance audition for a collegiate music program, another may simply want to feel more comfortable singing with their church choir or congregation, and yet another needs help with their Music Theory homework. For that reason, Philpott Vocal Studio offers different lesson types and pricing based on each student's individual needs.
Voice Lessons
Ages: 16 to Adult
Voice Lessons are dedicated to the training of more mature voices that have "settled" or begun settling into their adult voice type (Soprano, Mezzo Soprano, Tenor, Baritone, Bass). In Voice Lessons, we focus on proper vocal technique, vocal health, interpretation, and self-confidence. The focus is NOT to learn to sing a particular song well, but rather, to learn the appropriate techniques that will allow the singer to sing ANY song well. Lessons are geared towards the singer's personal goals in their genre(s) of focus.
Singing Lessons​
Ages: 12 to 15

Singing Lessons are focused on helping juvenile singers whose voices are still changing and growing to learn the basics of vocal technique (posture, breathing, etc.) that will help them to sing with greater beauty, increased volume, less vocal stress, and enjoy singing more in general.
Basic Music Instruction
Ages: All

Basic Music Lessons are for students of all ages who want or need to learn more about music in general or more specific topics. For example, Sight Singing instruction is ideal for someone who wishes to feel more skilled and comfortable in religious choral or congregational singing. Music Theory and/or History is ideal for a high school or college student wishing to get tutoring or a jump start on music classes in high school or college. And EVERY musician should be familiar with the piano keyboard.
